WORDS OF ADVICE FOR NEW LEARNER DRIVERS

After stopping to write for some times, I decided to write again in my blog, as I wish to shared my thoughts with everyone. Today, I would like to share some points with new learner drivers on how to begin with their driving journey as a new driver ( those who are totally new in handling a motorcar).

When one attained the age of 18 years old, be it parents or would be new drivers, your mind set is to obtained a valid driving licence as soon as possible - right? But how to go about it.

First, you need to have passed a Basic Theory Test (BTT) in order to obtained a PDL (Provisional Driving Licence) to enable you to drive a car. Next, you need to pass your Final Theory Test (FTT) in order to book for your Traffic Police driving test.

Your driving lessons started here and you started to source for your driving instructor, be it from a driving schools or private professional instructors - right?

It made no difference whether you choose from these two categories. End of the day is whether are you able to acquired the right driving techniques and passed your driving test.

As a new learner drivers, once I was like all of you during my trainee times, I am so eager to have my driving licence as soon as possible. Thus it has landed me in slowing down my learning progress yet spend even more money and time to obtain one.

Therefore as a piece of advice, I wish that all new learners drivers will observe the following good learning etiquettes while you are undergoing your lessons with your instructors.

1. Comply all safety instructions given by your instructor.
2. Don't reason and disputes when you are being pointed out on your mistakes.
3. Don't shift your blame to others during your driving lessons.
4. Observed courtesy driving and don't fight for your right of ways if it may caused accidents.
5. Don't compared the way your family members, friends and others on their driving habits.
6. Don't compared other learners learning curve as yours.
7. Don't instruct your instructor to do subjects that is not meant for the day.
8. Don't show your egoism even if you are a 'celebrity' n your professions.
9. Don't be too calculative on timing for few minutes differences as other learner too will be waiting.
10.Be attentive and focus on driving as safety is the most priority.

Above are just few points that as a new learner driver, these are the most after sought good driving etiquettes which every instructors is looking forward to their students.

Wish all new learners a pleasant, happy and safety driving experience.

Preparing For Your Traffic Police Driving Assessement Test

PREPARING FOR YOUR PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST

Generally, when we go for the Traffic Police driving test, our ultimate aim is hope to pass our driving test within the first attempt. Given the present high course fees and driving test fees, I can understand the financial burden imposed on those average and lower income earners.

Naturally, one would always ask, how to pass the driving test within the shortest possible time? My friend had do it over few attempts before finally got his driving license. How many times must I take my driving test before I am awarded for my driving license?

Here are some pointers to shared with all, although it does not guaranteed 100 percent passing rate but is worth a reading.

Once a learner driver has booked his/her driving practical test with the Traffic Police Department, they are required to take the test in 2 parts, namely; a) circuit courses and b) general driving on roads.

A - Driving Circuit

Driving circuit consists of 6 obstacles course that a learner must be able to drive through smoothly without striking kerbs or mount on kerbs. These 6 obstacle courses are: -
1. S Course
2. Crank Course
3. Directional Change
4. Vertical or Reverse Parking
5. Parallel or Perpendicular Parking
6. Slope or Gradient

NB: As for those taking the automatic car driving test, they are required to perform an additional course known as Reaction Response Course, this is similar as the Directional Change except the learner driver need to drive the car that mount on top a kerb and brake with immediate response.

B - General Driving Road Test

This part of the general driving test requires learner driver to drive on roads and they are tested on these following aspects: -

3. Listen to instructions given by Traffic Tester attentively.
4. Signal early on all your intentions.
5. Do not strike kerbs.
6. Do not mount kerbs.
7. Stop at every stop line & junctions.
8. Check your blind spots & safety checks.

During Driving Test - On Road
1. Listen to instructions given by Traffic Tester attentively.
2. Check on all mirrors, safety & blind spot areas.
3. Signal early to show your intentions.
4. Comply to all traffic rules & regulations.
5. Used engine break when always approach traffic junctions.
6. Do not road hog and drive on the left always other then during bus lane operating hours.

DRIVING LICENSE IN SINGAPORE

DRIVING LICENSE IN SINGAPORE

Having a driving license in Singapore is not a luxury as compared to owning a Ferrari or Lamborghini, etc. I had been working in a driving instructions organization and would like to shared some pointers with those who look forward to have a driving license.

First, I would say that I had been procrastinating in writing this blog because due to my poor grammar and sentence constructions. After some thought and determinations, I finally try to start my first blog here.

Lets us go into the point as why do people wants to have a driving license even with the high COEs and many other constrains in owning a car today? I personally view it as the few reasons below:-

1. Fear of the legal age limit for driving set by Traffic Police Department may changed from current 18 years old to 21 years old. (This is just some speculation by common publics but the current age to learn riding or driving is still 18 years old.)

2. Some parents would like their child have their driving license as soon as when their age reached 18 years old, as they perceived that tests might be getting harder to pass in the near future.

3. Some parents worry that if their son is due for National Service called up, it would be wise to let their son go for an early driving lessons & have his driving license before his enlistment.

4. Some are people whose driving license are revoked or suspended due to their traffic offences and required to retake their driving test again.

5. Some are foreign expatriates whom need to drive in Singapore as required by their company and need to have the driving license urgently.

The lists will goes on and on but somehow, these are reasons why people need to have a driving license. So to have a driving license in Singapore, here are more details in this respect.

DRIVING LICENSE IN SINGAPORE

A driving license is required in Singapore, before a person is allowed to drive a motor vehicle of any specifications on a road and subject to all traffic rules gazetted by the Traffic Police Department.
